recently bought a portable electric generator. there is a lock pin in the generator. what is this for.?

the lock pin is about 3 inches long and attached to a cord. you can pull it out . no where in the manual does it say anything about this lock pin. the generator is on wheels.

    its a shipping lock,
    remove it before running it,
