Does anyone have experience with portable generators? I was looking at the DuroMax 10000 XP?

I want to run most of my home, this is an 8000 watt with a 10000 surge. I want something a woman can run and maintain with the least concerns.
Yes, I did have an electrician come to see what I would need for size as I need furnace, grinder pump, fridge and some lights. Just trying to pick a good machine. Elec will istall a transfer panel for 8 circuits.

The Duromax appears to be a Chinese built generator. I’d be very weary about getting one. The low price has a reason. Consider spending a bit more money to get better quality and reliability. Honda is very good but also very expensive. You can get a Briggs and Stratton generator for a reasonable price. Check your local classified ads, CraigsList, and Kijiji for used systems.

Read through my generator pages and links for more information.

It will run your essential circuits fine.

I wouldn’t try to run anything more that a gas/oil furnace, but not A/C or heat pump, nor eclectic range/dryer/water heater.

You should get a separate transfer panel installed to safely use it, and have the few essential circuits moved over.
