    It depends on how big the generator is. I have a 5000W generator that will run a good part of the day on 5-6 gallons of gas. A smaller one will run longer.

    But the thing you have to watch out for is how clean is the power that the generator puts out. Power companies do a lot to make sure that their power is very smooth and reliable. It’s always a 60 hertz signal, it’s always 120 volts, it’s stable. Generators fluctuate on that sometimes, and computers and fine electronics don’t like that sort of variation. If your power goes out, and you try to run your xbox on a generator, you may or may not damage it. Check with the manufacturer before you try this. Better yet – get a frisbee and play catch, or take a walk, or ride a bike. There’s lots of stuff you can do that doesn’t require electricity and a screen.
