You’ll be better off using the lanterns…

Use the Coleman lantern. Try to mount it up from the ground so that it lights up a larger area. Get one of those hat clip led lights to see better for tying knots in your line or unhooking fish. A Coleman about 4 feet off the ground lights a large area and doesn’t get into your eyes.

I would go with what ever will light up the largest area for you. The Coleman lanterns work great if your crappie fishing in shallow water but if you are fishing from the beach you are going to need something with some distance. Otherwise you are going to be lighting more beach then water trying to stay out of the waves. If you’re going down to Galveston i would hit up a rock groin down by like 33rd Street or just in that general area. Put them big lights out, there is a lot of ocean and the more light you have the easier it will be for the fish to find you. I know this is a little late but just something to think about next time you go. Oh and make sure when you are going night fishing you check the moon cycle, not sure what it is now, but best to go under a new moon that way the only light the fish see is yours.
